Michelle Lynn Jacobson

Symbolism and transcendentalism are explored through a meticulous, meditative and physically demanding creative process. Lived ephemeral moments are documented in travel journals through poetry, watercolor paintings, and drawings. Found objects are sewn into notebook pages as sketches of larger ideas. Concepts are then physically constructed as large scale aesthetic or functional objects including murals, drawings sewn onto canvas, or painted planter boxes using repurposed wood. The natural environment is compared to interpersonal relationships, and the bridge becomes a metaphor for the body, a wave, or a rainbow. By fragmenting my internal space into an external and public statement, my practice investigates the ebb and flow of the internal and external experience.

Michelle is a Los Angeles based artist, who received their Masters of Art in painting and sculpture from California State University, Northridge in 2016.
